What is this research project about?
This project seeks to explore the everyday experiences of those who engaged with or were aware of Dublin’s Hirschfeld Centre during the period 1979-1987 and beyond. This includes people who visited the centre, were active in groups and organisations affiliated with the centre, attended the disco Flikkers or even just used the café for coffee. Please see our About page for more information.
Who can take part?
We are looking for people who were involved in the activities of the Hirschfeld, who attended its social events and used it for any kind of reason. For this research, are focusing on the Irish LGBTQ community who used the centre but also any international visitors and allies that crossed its threshold.
Will people know I participated?
The project design enables you to be named in all of the project outputs, some of them or none. If you wish to be anonymized, your interview transcript will be de-identified by the researchers.
Who is conducting the research?
The research is being run by Dr. Páraic Kerrigan at University College Dublin and Prof. Maria Pramaggiore at Maynooth University.
